The Stevens Estate

The Stevens Estate at Osgood Hill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the last Grand Victorian estates in North America. The country mansion, with its noteworthy red brick bonding and turreted roof is part of a complex of buildings designed by Earnest Bowditch on the 153 acre estate, which also features a riverstone and red slate gatehouse and the estate’s original red brick carriagehouse. A winding driveway reveals the mansion atop Osgood Hill, nestled among long-established trees and rolling lawns.

Built for Moses Stevens in 1886, the estate was famed for its spectacular garden parties that attracted many hundreds of guests who worked for the Stevens textile mill empire up and down the east coast, and beyond. Romanesque arches, finest imported hardwoods, distinctive marble fireplaces and textured wall treatments are featured inside the mansion or grand house, which was designed by prominent Boston architects Henry Hartwell and William Richardson. The impressive features reflect the success and prominence of the Stevens’ family during the last century.

Today, this beautiful estate is owned by the Town of North Andover and revenues generated from our events are reinvested into the estate for restoration and repair of the mansion, estate buildings and grounds. The auspicious setting of the Stevens mansion’s first floor can be used for events throughout the year. Interior rooms feature classical oak and mahogany wood paneling and pocket doors, fine imported marble fireplaces and magnificent architectural details that will add weight to any occasion. Indoor spaces are connected to the estate’s gardens inviting guests to step outside and take in the majestic setting.

PEAK SEASON – May to October
Spring, Summer and Fall each offer their own dramatic New England backdrop for spectacular outdoor events up to 250 people. Enjoy lawn games, outdoor presentations, cocktails on the terrace at sunset and the use of our elegant peaked tent and chandeliers for daytime or evening events. The tent sits atop a cobblestone terrace overlooking the lawn and connects to the house with a covered walkway, in case of inclement weather.

A four-hour rental of the mansion and grounds includes the services of an Event Manager to plan, detail and manage your event, dining and cocktail tables, china, glassware and utensils (up to 250ppl),white or ivory tablecloths and a variety of napkin colors, plus one hour for setup and breakdown of your event. Chiavari chairs are not included in the rental but can be rented for the tent at $5.50 each. We can provide bocce, volleyball and croquet equipment.

OFF - PEAK SEASON – Late October to April
From late Fall to Early Spring, reserve the mansion’s interior parlors and suites exclusively for dinner (up to 100 people) or an informal reception (up to 180). 

A four-hour rental of the mansion includes the services of an Event Manager to plan, detail and manage your event, tables and chairs. China, glassware and utensils, white or ivory tablecloths and a variety of napkin colors, plus one hour for setup and breakdown of the mansion for your event. Chiavari chairs are included in the rental.

Short-Notice Reservation (less than 90 days)
Available Monday to Thursday only, subject to availability. Reduced rates are available for hourly and four-hour rental of the mansion when you work with our approved caterers. Restrictions apply.

The Stevens Estate makes a beautiful setting for a wedding reception and ceremony. With multiple unique spaces to use for your special day, create an experience that is truly “you two, and nobody else”. Choose the magnificent parlors, the manicured lawn or the airy Garden Room to celebrate your exchange of vows. Enjoy 153 acres of stunning property for your photographs. Allow guests to mix and mingle with a combination indoor-outdoor cocktail hour on the terrace, lawn or inside the mansion. Share a delicious meal provided by some of the finest caterers around and dance the night away under the stars or inside the mansion.

PEAK SEASON – May to October
Each season has its own unique beauty at The Stevens Estate. Choose a bright, Spring day with splashes of color from tulips and peonies, a long Summer afternoon with blue skies and light breezes, or a dramatic Fall backdrop with rich autumnal colors and contrasts for your special day.

CEREMONY-A Formal ceremony with elegant white lawn chairs on the manicured lawn
COCKTAIL HOUR- A sophisticated affair inside the mansion, on the terrace or on the lawn
RECEPTION- Under an elegant peaked tent atop a cobblestone terrace next to the lawn

Enjoy exclusive use of the estate for your wedding with a 4.5 hour Cocktail Hour and Reception package, plus setup and breakdown time. Add another 30 minutes for your ceremony with elegant white garden chairs, set up on the ceremony lawn. Enjoy use of the luxurious bridal and groom’s suites on the second floor of the mansion for two hours, prior to your ceremony.

Rental of the mansion and grounds for your reception includes the services of a professional Event Manager to plan, detail and manage your event. The rental fee includes use of our peaked 100’ x 40’ tent, custom made parquet dancefloor, two bar set-ups, chandeliers and twinkle lights. The rental fee also includes dining and cocktail tables, china, glassware and utensils (up to 250ppl), tablecloths and a variety of napkin colors. Chiavari chairs are not included in the rental fee but can be rented for the tent at $5.50 each. We can provide bocce, volleyball and croquet equipment.

OFF-PEAK SEASON – Late October to April
From late Fall to Early Spring, enjoy exclusive use of the mansion’s first floor rooms and suites for your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Host informal receptions for up to 180 people or dinners for 100 in the grand rooms and hallways and decorate the house as you would your own. Enjoy use of the Bridal and Groom’s suites for two hours before your ceremony. The Stevens Estate in Winter is a magical wedding destination. Find out about our reduced rates for Off-Peak Saturday, Friday and Sunday weddings.

CEREMONY-The ceremony takes place in the grand setting of the mansion’s parlors or on the lawn.
COCKTAIL HOUR- A sophisticated affair inside the house with stationary and passed hors d’oeuvres.
RECEPTION- An informal reception in the grand setting of the house or a formal reception in the Garden Room.

We offer hourly room rental options for small meetings and conferences for up to 100 people (theatre style) with convivial and peaceful break-out spaces (inside and outside) and complimentary wi-fi. Each room features large windows with beautiful views. We will be happy to help coordinate your catering and AV needs.
